Reuser or Refurbisher
Reuse and Refurbishment (RR) organizations in Ontario include a mix of not-for-profit and for-profit organizations which provide services ranging from providing functioning WEEE to users without repairing or modifying the hardware, to replacing, repairing or redistributing parts or equipment and sending any resulting waste for reprocessing to an OES-approved primary processor.
OES introduced an incentive program for Approved Reuse and Refurbish Organizations in the Fall of 2010.
Sites wishing to participate in the OES RR program must complete the following steps:
- Register at https://mtsreg.oesdatasystem.ca/login.aspx
- Undergo a pre-audit inspection with an OES Representative*
- With a successful pre-audit inspection, undergo a detailed third-party OES Reuse and Refurbishment Standard Audit**
- OES review and approval of audit submitted by the third party auditor.
- Submit an invoice to oesaccounting@ontarioelectronicstewardship.ca for reimbursement
(include the original invoice from the auditor). - Sign and submit the Reuse and Refurbishment Agreement.
- Submit Monthly Reports for whole working units sold or donated using the OES Monthly Template.

**OES reimburses the cost of all successfully completed RR third party audits once the Reuse and Refurbishment Agreement has been signed.

Reuse Incentive
The RI includes a $0.25/unit incentive for reporting and a $1.75/unit incentive per whole working unit that is sold or donated. The combined $2.00 per whole working unit incentive applies only to computers, monitors, printers, copiers, scanners, televisions and fax machines.
