OES Fundraising Program Overview
Ontario charities are partnering with the OES program, recycleyourelectronics.ca, to earn funds by collecting electronics for recycling. Not only are these groups – firefighters, schools, community groups, clubs, amateur sports teams and more – raising money for their organizations, but they’re also helping to safely manage end-of-life electronics to keep them out of landfill.
Any charity that partners with OES can earn $185 to $235 per tonne* for the electronics that they collect. OES has two goals for fundraising events:
- to help make your event a success by earning funds for your organization
- to help collect more end-of-life electronics for safe recycling
We want to make this easy for our fundraising partners. We will help you put all the details in place including determining how many people you need to staff the event, setting you up with collection bins, putting together a logistics plan and working through other details that will make your event a success.

Measuring Success
When measuring the promotional success of for fundraising activities, factors we consider are:
- did the event host use promotion to increase awareness of the program to encourage people to bring program materials to the fundraising collection event?
- did the event meet or exceed its objectives (i.e. number of people, raising community awareness and funds)?
- did the amount of items collected meet or exceed expectations?
*NOTE: Collection incentives vary according to how the materials are managed and packaged for transfer from your event.
