OES seeks views on important issues facing the organization

In early May, the OES Board of Directors will take part in a strategic planning retreat to address key issues that we will face over the coming months and years. As an essential first step, we are seeking your views about priorities for the organization, current strengths, weaknesses and areas of opportunity.

All Stewards/Remitters and Sub-Remitters are invited and encouraged to complete a brief online survey to provide feedback to this process. The survey is available now and will remain open until 5 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010.

Your response will be aggregated and no individual remarks will be directly identified. By sharing your thoughts, you will play an important role in shaping the future of OES. We look forward to receiving your comments and thank you for your assistance!

Reminder to submit comments on WEEE Material Flow Arrangements

The deadline to submit your comments on the options for the WEEE Material Flow Arrangements is April 30. We encourage you to use the online comment form. You may type into it directly or copy material and/or attach (upload) documents to provide your feedback.

Stewards, Remitters and Sub-Remitters required to file and pay applicable fees for their March monthly report by April 30, 2010

The April 30 deadline for Stewards/Remitters and Sub-Remitters to file and pay applicable fees for their March Steward's/Remitter's Report is fast approaching. This will be the twelfth report and final report for Stewards obligated under Phase 1 of the WEEE program.  Companies that file Steward’s/Remitter’s Reports and make payments according to the Phase 1 fee schedule in the Rules are considered to be in good standing with OES and compliant with the Waste Diversion Act (WDA) and the WEEE Program Plan Rules.

Payments

Your company’s primary or billing contact can download monthly invoices from the Steward Reporting System. Please login and proceed to Step #9. All invoices are maintained in this confidential web-based system rather than distributed by mail. Payments to OES are subject to 5% GST.

Payment is requested by cheque or via online through the Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT).

Looking ahead: Steward/Remitter and Sub-Remitter Reporting for the Revised Phase 1
and 2 Program

Starting in May, Steward, Remitters and Sub-Remitters will file monthly reports and make payments on both Phase 1 EEE and Phase 2 EEE materials.  Current Phase 1 Stewards/Remitters and Sub-Remitters and new Stewards/Remitters and Sub-Remitters will be required to submit their first monthly report and pay applicable fees by May 31, 2010. This report will include EEE units supplied between April 1-30, 2010.

Non-complying Stewards may be subject to enforcement actions by the Ministry of the Environment as prescribed under Sections 36 - 41 of the WDA. Obligated Stewards and Remitters who fail to pay applicable EEE Fees may be subject to a penalty of 10% of the Obligated EEE Fees due and payable. Interest may be charged at the posted prime interest rate plus 3% on any outstanding balance due.
