Ontario’s new waste diversion program plan for Phase 1 WEEE launches on April 1, 2009, when all brand owners, first importers, franchisors and/or assemblers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) will assume new legal obligations as stewards of EEE. They will be required to submit reports and pay fees on the amount of certain “designated” materials that they sell into the Ontario marketplace.
