100,000 tonnes... Thank you, Ontario.
March, 2012 -- Ontarians have once again proved they are world-class recyclers by helping divert more than 100,000 tonnes of electronic waste from landfill. That's equivalent to 12,222 tractor-trailer loads of unwanted electronics that, parked end-to-end, would form a line from downtown Toronto all the way to Kingston.
Since 2009, Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES) and its network of approved collectors, transporters and processors have worked with Ontarians to ensure end-of-life electronics are disposed of in a safe and responsible manner.
OES and network partners would like to thank everyone who played a role in reaching this milestone, and build on the momentum of enthusiastic Ontarians as we focus our efforts towards a new target… the next 100,000!
