Ontario Electronic Stewardship Announces Leadership Change
Toronto, ON, December 21, 2011 - Today, Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES) officially announced that Carol Hochu, Executive Director, is stepping down effective December 31, 2011. Hochu is departing OES to take on a new role as President and CEO of the Canadian Plastics Industry Association.
“On behalf of OES, I want to thank Carol for her service and leadership,” said Nick Aubry, Chair of the Board of Directors, OES. “Carol took OES through two program launches and did an excellent job navigating this complicated and challenging stewardship regulatory environment in our largest market. We wish Carol well in her future endeavours.”
Hochu led the OES for three years and will be replaced on an interim basis by Howard Morrison, CMA, Director of Finance, while the OES Board conducts a search to identify a new Executive Director.
Prior to joining OES in 2010, Howard held a senior position managing finance, HR and facilities for Intelligent Creatures, a privately-held company specializing in digital effects for feature films. Before that, he served 20 years for Toshiba Canada, including his last appointment in 2007 to VP, Operations for both its Office Products and Toshiba Business Solutions groups.
“I am very proud of the progress made and momentum created in diverting end-of-life (EOL) electronics from landfill,” said Hochu. “I have every confidence that OES will continue to manage EOL electronics in an environmentally responsible and economically efficient manner, and that the program will continue to meet the high expectations of stakeholders. I feel confident that I am leaving the OES Board and senior management team in the best possible position to address the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
